Define official languages for People Powered

Avatar: Clara Bois Clara Bois

Accepted
Set official languages for People Powered so that every communication, resource, and material produced is fairly translated in the official languages. My initial proposal is to have at least 4 official languages: English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese.

Obrigado Clara for raising this issue.
I wonder if we could develop a rationale for selecting the official languages.
For instance, if the main criterion is the number of speakers, Chinese is the most spoken language in the world (1.3 billion) and French is not even in the list of the ten most spoken languages:
https://www.statista.com/chart/12868/the-worlds-most-spoken-languages/

If the criterion is the number of organizations (or individuals) that are members of PeoplePowered by language, then Chinese may not be as relevant, as there are few Chinese organizations in People Powered as of today.

My point is that we will need some criteria to select the official languages.
