Civic tech training on digital participation tools
Although digital public participation tools have been around for a few years, the COVID-19 pandemic brought them to the forefront, as it is less easy to hold public consultations in person. Soon, they were used to replace face-to-face meetings. Digital tools have their own advantages, but online consultations pose a number of challenges that are important to understand, including deliberation. This training would introduce the Powered People network to the world of digital participation tools in order to better assess the potential and risks associated with their use.
Expenses would include staff time for coordination, honoraria for speakers and facilitators, design, and translation. Low cost estimate assumes one training and accompanying materials. High cost estimate assumes 2.
Cost estimate: $10,000-$20,000
