Pay Scale for Contractors
Develop a pay scale that defines standard rates for paying non-staff contract workers.
Long Description: Develop a pay scale that defines standard rates for paying non-staff contract workers, such as speakers, facilitators, mentors, and content developers. Agree on rates that are equitable and sustainable across regions. PP has a pay scale for staff salaries and has experimented with a scale for some contract workers, but we have not developed a comprehensive policy.

Note that this proposal is to develop a policy next year, with members (not to create one in the next few weeks). This would likely require significant discussion, as there are different perspectives on this issue. We have received feedback from some members in lower cost of living locations that rates should be equal (so prioritizing equal pay for equal work) and also feedback from some members in higher cost of living locations that the rates are not adequate to cover their costs (so prioritizing equal local VALUE of pay across locations). I think both are legitimate perspectives, and any policy would need to address them.

Could this policy be part of the Diversity Equity and Inclusion policy?
Interesting. I think: yes, only if you go for an "equal work, equal pay" model.
I think we could mention in the DEI policy that we apply this through our pay scales for staff and contractors, but trying to include the pay scales in the DEI policy itself would be too much - we'd then have to update our DEI policy every time we adjust our pay rates.
