Members decided on new organizational policies to develop and implement.
Members helped shape the policies that guide how we work together. Through a participatory policy-making process, we invided our members - participatory democracy organizations and advocates around the world– to decide on new organizational policies to advance our mission, values, and plans.
First, everyone was invited to review drafts of developed policies on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, New Governance Structure and Membership policies. We then invited our members to share your ideas for new policies on issues such as organizational governance, membership, research, governance, finance, and fundraising. Then, the PP community discussed policy ideas, further develop them, and comment on previously developed policies.
Finally, members voted to decide which policies we will develop and implement. A Governance Committee consisting of member organizations and board members oversaw the process.
There were video calls during the proposals stage to facilitate conversations and development of policy proposals. Members were able to contribute to the conversations asynchronously through the governance platform.
Proposals were considered eligible if they met the following criteria:
- Consistent with People Powered’s mission and values.
- Contributes to the goals of People Powered’s strategic plan.
- Relevant and applicable in more than one country.
- Something that we can realistically implement in 2024.
