Pay Scale for Contractors

Avatar: Josh Lerner Josh Lerner
17/10/2023 08:34

Develop a pay scale that defines standard rates for paying non-staff contract workers.

Long Description: Develop a pay scale that defines standard rates for paying non-staff contract workers, such as speakers, facilitators, mentors, and content developers. Agree on rates that are equitable and sustainable across regions. PP has a pay scale for staff salaries and has experimented with a scale for some contract workers, but we have not developed a comprehensive policy.

Note that this proposal is to develop a policy next year, with members (not to create one in the next few weeks). This would likely require significant discussion, as there are different perspectives on this issue. We have received feedback from some members in lower cost of living locations that rates should be equal (so prioritizing equal pay for equal work) and also feedback from some members in higher cost of living locations that the rates are not adequate to cover their costs (so prioritizing equal local VALUE of pay across locations). I think both are legitimate perspectives, and any policy would need to address them.
