2022 Budget
Decide what we do together
Build a Community of Practice for Decidim in Africa
Develop and build a Francophone Community of Practice for decidim in Africa, which will expand People Powered and improve inclusion of francophones. We currently have a network of francophone NGOs in various francophone countries (Mali, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Chad, Cameroon, Senegal, Niger, RD Congo, Benin, etc.) who have already committed to support this project #tech4participation project in their countries, at least by advocating with local governments and governments, and by being focal point.
The project aims to demonstrate the variety and richness of citizen participation initiatives in francophone countries, that so far have not received the consideration they deserve, in notoriously difficult contexts. The #tech4participation Project with Decidim as our strategic tool is here to improve this situation.
Cost estimate: $20,000-$40,000

Yes but... why only Decidim?
Hi Anthony
Thanks for your question.
As we saw there are many tools, we thought to build capacities on a tool and finally bet on decidim because our techs know postgrey and ruby on rails. Also, it would be very difficult to build capacities on many tools at once. Also, the team sometime believes if we have more people using a tool, it will give more possibility for users to interact, share knowledge and insights.
We do remain open and at your disposal for more thoughts on this.

@Charlie we had questions about why only a network for one tech product. Would you consider either expanding the scope beyond one product or having this proposal be part of another broader proposal?
@josh_lerner
We would happily consider to be part of another broader proposal.
As you might understand, so far we have not devoted time to another tool because of resource constraints.
At your disposal.
