Participatory skillset training program for citizens
Common challenge to participatory democracy is that citizens are not aware of existing tools and channels at their disposal to participate and make their voice heard apart from traditional election cycles.
This proposal suggests to create a capacity building program for citizens that would outline the range of existing options to participate in the public life in their community, city, region or country at different levels of engagement - propose, consult, co-create, decide, etc. The program would also develop citizens’ skillset to empower them to become active citizens using and demanding these participatory tools.
This proposal can create a general framework for a such training program to later be customized by local experts based on specific contexts of different regions to meet specific needs of each community. The program can fit the needs of communities globally, from Europe to Africa, from Americas to Asia as it would be designed to allow for context-specific customizations.
